We are trying to raise money to buy an iPad and iPad accessories/protection/apps for our classroom. The kiddos are super pumped about it and pretty much lost their minds when I showed them we had a couple of donations already. Darby Amarilla Rose Bud Yonker
November 5, 1998-August 26, 2011
Yesterday we said goodbye to Darby, the prettiest Labrador ever. For almost 13 years she was an amazing dog and an even better friend. Her favorite things included snuggling, peanut butter, smiling, belly rubs and ear scratches, hopping onto the couch when no one was looking (and once she got older even when you were looking), giving kisses, chasing bunnies, squirrels and cats, tennis balls, rawhides, food of any kind, swimming at the lake, fishing with Dad and me, going on pontoon boat rides and sitting up in the front seat, visiting the all of the neighbors up north and coming home with soot on her snout from sniffing around the grills and getting hot dogs, loving and being loved. Darby is the only dog we have had that had to put up with not one, but two puppies coming into her house and she did her best to show them the ropes while putting up with their tormenting. She was there for me when I started high school, when we lost her “sister” Valentine, for graduation, starting college, my breakups, graduating college, my first jobs and everything in between. Every time someone would walk by her she would thump her tail as if to say, ‘Hey you! I’m excited you’re here!’ She was very good at pretending that we never paid attention to her when other people came over so she could get them to pet her longer. Darby was a very happy girl : )
Darby also helped in my dad’s high school Special Education classroom for 8 years. Though she was never formally trained as a therapy dog, she was amazing. Dad had many students going through rough times and Darby always knew exactly which student to be near when they needed her.
I’m going to miss her but I’ll always remember how many lives she made better : )
